Many concepts from ancient indigenous cultures offer valuable insights into our psychological and spiritual wellbeing. Carl Jung appropriated many of these in his writings, including the concept of Wetiko. As Paul Levy writes here, “Wetiko is a Native American term that can be conceived of as being a mind-virus that operates through our psychological blind-spots. Covertly working through the projective tendencies of our minds, Wetiko surreptitiously —beneath our conscious awareness—flavors our interpretations of and the meanings we place onto the world such that we unwittingly become instruments to act out its agenda (which we can be assured is contrary to our own best interests).”
Understanding how to recognize and manage our reactions to thoughts and emotions that threaten to derail our psychological well-being as individuals and as a society is critical. Levy goes on to say, “Humanity has been hobbled by our narrative biases. Instead of locking down on one narrative, the ability to have a comprehensive, omniperspective of the world—where instead of seeing only a partial view of what might be happening, we are more able to see the big picture—is a critically important evolutionary capacity that we are each being called to develop.” In other words, by identifying with the narrative or the counter narrative, we are playing into destructive thinking that divides us and also deceives us.
My new neighbors that surround me believe me to be crazy thanks to one neighbor who had a NY Eve Party and announced to all we were not invited because I talk too much about covid.
( I was informed by one of the neighbors)
Oddly after walking through a nature Preserve , my husband and i were sitting on a bench as a woman who was passing by stopped to chat. Again, I did my crazy stint and talked about the white clots and all the recent side effects I was hearing about. I am SURE my husband was melting into his seat next to me but too bad! This is a holocaust and I can honestly say if i lived under Hitler while the ovens were burning I would be speaking out then too.....and probably executed.
Now this lady gave me her card and asked my husband if she could take me out to lunch. she said she enjoys conversing with people who have high IQs....nice compliment but we literally are clueless about IQs.....
She called the next day and said her Physician author husband would like to take us both out to lunch at their country club . Meanwhile , I am shunned in my own neighborhood as a crazy woman.
Thanks to Fauci we live in a deeply divided world now.
